Cuddly Cubs Weekly Round Up

This week we have had a very physical and creative week in the Cubs, and have made the most of the improving weather by doing lots of messy play activities outside. The children particularly enjoyed exploring the flour in the messy tray and pretending that it was snow and the garden looked like it had been hit by a blizzard by the time they had finished!
They also had fun making decorations for the Queen’s Jubilee as they were able to use lot of sparkly things and make lots and lots of mess.
On Friday we made purple play dough and enjoyed squishing it between our fingers and using the plastic knives and forks to poke into it.
Have a great weekend.

This week in the Cubs we enjoyed exploring tea bag painting, this was a new activity for us but all of the children enjoyed it and we made some beautiful colours.
We have also been enjoying our new story books, some of them have musical buttons which match the pictures in the book to press at certain times during the story.
In preparation for the Jubilee Garden party we will be making our own pasta chain decorations.
Sugar Free photographers will be at the nursery on Wednesday 16th May, for more information please see our news item.
Have a great weekend

This week we have played with water, ducks, bowls and cloths, the children were really happy playing with this activity which lasted an hour and only stopped because it was lunch time!
They patted the water with their hands and used the cloths to wash the objects themselves. Because they enjoyed this sensory activity so much we did it again later in the week but this time we set some objects into ice. The children were a bit apprehensive about the cold to start with but as the ice melted they held it in their hands and pulled the toys out.
Have a great weekend.

This week we have been exploring the paint with our hands and feet, the children had their feet painted and then ran or walked over the paper leaving marks. Then they put their hands in the paint and put them onto the paper.
We’ve also been practising our walking using the baby walkers and climbing on and off of the wooden blocks.
The Cubs would like to wish Georgia a very Happy 1st Birthday tomorrow.
If any of you have any Sainsburys vouchers that you would like to donate to the nursery please could you give them in as soon as possible as we are approaching the deadline.
On Friday 1st June at 3:00pm we will be holding a garden party to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. We hope that as many of our parents and other family members will be able to join us. Please could you let your child’s key person know if you would like to attend, so that we can inform the kitchen for catering purposes.
The theme for the celebrations is ‘Kings and Queens’, if your child does not have a costume we will also be wearing red, white or blue, please feel free to join us with this dress theme on the afternoon.

This week in the Cubs we have really enjoyed exploring with shredded paper, we transported it around the room and made funny hairstyles with it!
We have also been challenging ourselves on the wooden blocks seeing how much we could climb. We then got creative and made some cards to celebrate the Queens birthday.
To celebrate St George’s Day on Monday please could the children wear something red to nursery.
Our termly parent meetings will be taking place the week of 30th April, please speak to your key person to make an appointment.
Have a lovely weekend.

This week we have been singing nursery rhymes about our eyes, nose, ears and tummy. The children listened to us singing and pointing and by the end of the day some of them were pointing at the different areas themselves.
We also sang number rhymes and built towers using the bricks, encouraging the children to stack the bricks on top of each other and knock them down.
Have a great Easter

The weather has been so nice that we have spent most of the day playing in our garden. We explored the sand pit, finding the animals that were hidden in it. We have also practiced our nursery rhymes joining in with the actions and shaking the musical instruments and moving our bodies to the music.
We also made our own musical instruments from old plastic bottles by filling them with dried pasta. The children practice their hand eye co-ordination and pincer grips.
Everyone in the Cubs hope that Daisy had a very Happy 1st Birthday on Wednesday.

This week the children have been exploring the garden. They’ve been crawling through the tunnels and crawling and climbing on and over wooden beams. We’ve also been playing with balls, throwing and rolling them to each other. These activities help the children develop their gross motor skills.
The children were very observant in the garden and pointed to the aeroplanes that flew over and when we saw a black cat!
We look forward to seeing you all next Thursday at 2:30PM for our Easter Bonnet Parade. Please remember that you need to make your child’s bonnet, with as much help and input from your child as possible! If you’d like some tips and inspiration, then check out our blog for useful links.
We’d like to say a big “Hello” to Fletcher, Bree and their families and welcome them to nursery.
Have a wonderful weekend.

This week in the Cuddly Cubs we have enjoyed taking part in healthy body week. We did lots of dancing to our favourite songs and set up an obstacle course in the garden. We’ve also been getting creative for a very special day this weekend!
The children have been really focused on garden play, using materials to make superhero costumes. The boys have been especially captivated by this activity! We’ve been making dens and enjoying stories together in them. The weather has really brightened up, so the children have requested having their tea outdoors.
To encourage mark making, the precursor to writing, we went outside and drew numbers and letters on the ground with chalk. We gave all the children a paint brush and pot of water and let them create their own marks or copy over the ones we had made.
We would like to wish everyone a lovely Mothers’ Day!
