TEEPEE – HOME AWAY FROM HOME

The hardest thing for any parent must be having to leave their baby in the care of another so they can return to work.  How can one be sure it is the right place for them? How can one be sure they will receive the care of a standard that you expect?

Our Teepee journey began with a home visit from our friendly keyworker.  It was the best thing for Jacques as, on his first day at Teepee, he was greeted by a familiar face – and he was further comforted by some of his own home routines already put in place for him from the information his keyworker collected from us on the home visit.  It was so reassuring to watch Jacques’ Kidz Club video that just happened to be taken on his first day at Teepee and see for ourselves how happy he really was – full of smiles, relaxed and really enjoying his new environment.

Two months into his Teepee journey, having built up much confidence through the encouragement he received from staff at Teepee, Jacques moved from the caring hands and BIG BEAR HUGS from the staff in the CUDDLY CUBS group – to the LARGE OPEN SPACES of the PLAYFUL PUPS group where his physical development sprouted with the freedom it gave for him to explore in a safe, child friendly environment. Jacques enjoyed his first ever Sports Day and did really well in his group race.  It was so wonderful to watch his social development as he interacted with the Teepee staff and his class friends.

Eight months from there, just after Jacques turned 2 years old, he moved on to the FUN AND ADVENTURE found in the CHEEKY CHIPMUNKS group.  It was the same building, but a whole new world as Jacques came home every time so excited and wanting to talk more and more so he can share his experiences with us.  He was a king in “The Shining Star” nativity play at Teepee and it was breath taking to watch him sing along to their group song “We three Kings” (to the tune of Baa Baa Black Sheep – which we could never get right but Jacques did!!)

Though Jacques enjoys going out and exploring the great big wide world out there and meeting new faces, he LOVES his home comforts and always greets his own home front door with that same enthusiasm as the first day he realised where it entered into.  There was only one other front door Jacques greeted with this same enthusiasm and that was the front door of Teepee – so, one could say, Jacques had adopted Teepee as his “HOME AWAY FROM HOME”.
